Privacy Policy 

  1. Privacy of Consumer Financial Information
    1. Credit Union shall protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of each member’s nonpublic personal information consistent with state and federal laws.
    2. Information We Collect - We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

a.       Information we receive from you on applications or other forms;

b.      Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, or other; and

c.       Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency.

    1. We shall take careful and reasonable measures to protect the accuracy and privacy of all member information used in conducting business purposes.
    2. We will not collect or maintain information about our members that is not essential for prudent business purposes.
  1. Responsibilities
    1. Officers, directors, committee members and employees are required to hold in confidence all Credit Union transactions with members and all information in regards to members’ personal business.
    2. It is the responsibility of all officers, directors, committee members and employees to protect confidential member information.
    3. It is the responsibility of all officers, directors, committee members and employees to identify any potential area of exposure and to take steps to report such discovery and to assist in correcting the condition that could permit any potential security breech.
    4. It is, further, the responsibility of all officers, directors, committee members and employees to report any actual or threatened release of confidential information and to take steps as may be immediately available to prevent or halt such release.
  2. Share Information
    1. Information We Disclose – We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our members or former members to any third party except as permitted by law or to conduct the business of the Credit Union.
    2. It is the policy to prohibit disclosure of member information to third parties (excluding Credit Union affiliates) concerning accounts with us, except;

a.       When such disclosure is necessary to complete transactions-

b.      To verify the existence and condition of your account for a third party (such as a credit bureau) as is permitted by law-

c.       To comply with any court order of applicable laws or regulations-

d.      When given written permission by the member- Federal law protects the information we provide to credit reporting agencies, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act strictly governs its use.

3.   We do not and will not sell or provide personal information to third parties for

independent use.  We may share personal information with our credit union affiliates, for example, CUNA Mutual Insurance Company, as allowed by federal law, if that information is required to provide a product or service that we believe members might want to know about.

D.     About Internet Cookies

1.      When you visit the “Active Website” portion of our website, a temporary

      cookie” will be placed on your hard drive. The terminology “cookie” is a small

      text file that is stored on your hard drive as a file. Cookies not only make it

      easier, quicker, and more secure for you to log into and use the Active Website,

      they are required.

2.      We use a temporary cookie to verify who you are while using the Active Website. These cookies do not compromise your privacy. The cookies placed on your hard drive can only be used by your credit union’s Active Website. Cookies cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. In order to access our secure site, you must allow the temporary cookie. The temporary cookie is removed after you exit the secure site section.

E.      Administration and Amendments  1.      Protecting member privacy is an ongoing process, and we will continue to review the measures taken to safeguard member information. 2.      If member information is shared with vendors, all contracts and agreements will include a guarantee that the vendor will safeguard such information. 3.      Since no policy can address every possible contingency and circumstance, our management shall use its good faith business judgment in administering this privacy policy, and expect that all employees and committee members will use good faith in their actions to protect the privacy of credit union members. 4.      We reserve the right to amend this policy in any respect.   The board of directors of Kingsville Community Federal Credit Union amended this policy on May 25, 2004.
